The Firm:
History
Focus Collaborative was created in1992 to prepare
construction specifications for architects and engineers
located in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and the immediate
surrounds. Since inception, Focus has grown steadily and is
now the largest independent specifications consulting firm
in the United States. We expect continued growth and
expanded services as a result.
At our client's request, we performed our first
Quality Assurance review in 1998 for a complicated,
high-rise renovation project. We built a review strategy
based on the RediCheck system and our own experience to help
ensure a coordinated set of construction documents will be
issued for bidding.
Today, our QA review service is provided
to designers, owners, and
constructors for all types of
projects.
In
1999, the Construction Sciences Research Foundation
selected Focus
Collaborative to develop and maintain SPECTEXT®, a nationally distributed
commercial master specification system. This relationship
continues today as we update existing and
introduce new specifications, develop tools to automate the
spec writing process,
respond to subscriber's technical questions, and manage the
technical review process.
Focus Collaborative introduced inspection and
investigation services coupled with
construction administration services to identify and correct
problems with existing
buildings. We routinely support architects and engineers
with detailed reviews of
contractor submittals, substitution requests, and requests
for information.
Most recently, we added engineering specifications
capabilities provided by a
professional engineer on staff. Now, Focus Collaborative can
provide construction
specifications for entire projects, ensuring the highest
degree of coordination possible
among all the specifications. |
